Getting Updates

VoiceCode.app

VoiceCode now includes an auto updater. Whenever an update is available it will be downloaded in the background. When the download is ready it will give a notification, and an "UPDATE" button will appear at the bottom of the main VoiceCode window. You can wait for a convenient time to update, or do it right away.

Commands and packages

Commands and settings are defined in packages separate from the main VoiceCode program, they can be installed and updated independently through the VoiceCode interface or from the command-line. When a package update is available it will show up in the "updates" section on the main Packages page of the VoiceCode window. If it seems like no package updates are showing up, try restarting VoiceCode.

Errors during auto-update

If VoiceCode.app does not auto update correctly, or if it fails to restart after downloading the update, follow these steps:

  • move `~/Applications/VoiceCode.app` to the trash
  • Download the latest release here
  • Unzip the downloaded file and drag it into `~/Applications`
  • Double check the accessibility preferences
  • Double-click the VoiceCode application to launch it
